Newsletter

If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter, we only ask you to provide your name, surname and email address. The newsletter serves only to update you on new content on our website. Your data will never be transferred to third parties or used in any way for transmitting advertising content. These personal data are managed on an external professional platform (mailUp), in compliance with the GDPR regulation.

Comments

When visitors post comments on the website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and the browser’s user agent string in order to facilitate spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be supplied to the Gravatar service in order to see whether you are using this address. The privacy policy adopted by the Gravatar service can be consulted at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will by publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Contact form

The contact form is only needed for the purpose of contacting the client. Personal data entered in this form are not inserted in any mailing list or database; they are only used for contact purposes and for direct human communication with the user.

Cookies

If you post a comment on our website, you can opt to have your name, email address and website stored in cookies. These are intended for your own convenience, to avoid you needing to insert your data again should you post a further comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

If you have an account and log into this website, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data and is eliminated when you close the browser.

When you log in, several cookies will be created in order save your login information and your screen display options. The login cookies are kept for two days, whereas the display option ones are valid for a year. If you select “Ricordami” (remember me), your login will remain valid for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you modify or post an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data, but simply indicates the ID of the article just modified. It expires after 1 day.

Advertising

The banners on the website do not use third party profiling cookies for the purpose of running campaigns tailored to users’ specific tastes.

Embedded content from other websites

The articles on this website may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, and so on). Any embedded content from another website will behave exactly as it would had the user visited that other website.

These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third party tracking and monitor interaction with the embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into the website in question.

Google Analytics

This website, diyandgarden.com, has embedded Google Analytics. This has been done for the purpose of analysing our website traffic. Among other things, Google uses the data and information collected for evaluating the use of our website and for generating online reports, which detail the activity on our website, and for providing other services related to the use of our website: data on the so-called referrer (i.e. the website from which the user was redirected), on which secondary pages were visited, and on how often and for how long a page was viewed. The web data analysis is mainly used for optimising the website and for performing cost-benefit analyses of Internet advertising.

Data used for analysing visitor behaviour are aggregated and anonymous. Indeed, to perform web analytics using Google Analytics, the controller uses the function “_gat. _anonymizeIp” through which the IP address of the data subject’s Internet connection is rendered anonymous.

How long we store your data

If you post a comment, your comment along with the relative metadata will be stored indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and automatically approve any of your subsequent comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

We also store the personal information that is provided, in their profiles, by any users who are registered on our website. All such users can view, modify or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of their user name, which cannot be changed). The website administrators can also view and modify this information.

Newsletter subscription data are kept indefinitely; these data can be checked by the user in person on the subscription data page.

Your rights in relation to your data

If you have an account on this website, if you have subscribed to the newsletter, or if you have posted comments, you can ask to be sent a file exported from the website showing the personal data we have about you, including the data you provided. You can also ask us to delete all personal data about you. This does not include the data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

All data are stored on servers in the EU. Visitor comments  may be checked in aggregated and anonymised form, using an automated spam detection service located abroad.
